fishermansfestivalThe Fisherman's Feast will be celebrated in the North End today through Sunday, August 18th. The Fisherman's Feast is a street festival in Boston's Italian-American neighborhood that has been going on for over 100 years. "The Feast is based on the devotion of the fishermen from Sciacca to the Madonna del Soccorso (Our Lady of Help). "

The festival will have carnival style games, vendors, marching bands, small concert stages, music and lots of wonderful Italian style cuisine.

The festival starts at 6:00pm tonight with an opening ceremony that includes "La Madonna Del Soccorso leaving her permanent chapel for the annual blessing of the fishing waters. The grand finale will start at 8:00 with the Flight of the Angels ceremony and the return of the statue of Mary to the church around 10:30pm."
