greenwayFollowing the SoWa Open Market, the Greenway Open Market will be opening soon! On Saturday, May 24th, the Greenway Open Market will be taking over the Rose Kennedy Greenway by the North End and feature an array of art from a variety of vendors. 

"The Greenway Open Market is a vibrant arts market that features talented area artists, crafters and independent designers. It is held on Saturdays from May to October along the Wharf District Parks on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in downtown Boston. Visitors will find exceptional handmade and locally produced products including fine art, jewelry, ceramics, crafts, apparel, accessories, and fair trade/eco friendly handmade imports.

sowaLet's hope the weather is nice on Sunday because the SoWa Open Market will be opening on May 4th!

"The SoWa Open Market sets up on Sundays, May through October in a compact three block area along Harrison Avenue in Boston’s South End. The Food Truck Court is located at 540 Harrison Ave. Every week, 30 to 35 food trucks serve up a variety of mobile cuisines, ranging from grilled cheese sandwiches to brick oven pizza to organic, healthy eats.

The Farmers Market is located at 500 Harrison Ave, featuring a mouth watering assortment of locally grown produce, flowers, plants, and gourmet specialty foods.

The Arts Market is located at the end of Thayer Street and is a mecca for all things handmade. Only the best of the region’s makers and designers are accepted to the market, resulting in a carefully curated selection of well crafted, innovative, fun and funky art and craft."

KISS 108 Jingle Ball

The holiday concert of the year is almost here! KISS 108's Jingle Ball will be coming to TD Garden on Saturday, December 14th! 

Featured artists include Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, Fall Out Boy, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Selena Gomez, Fifth Harmony, Ariana Grande, Jason Derulo and Austin Mahone!

Tickets are currently available through ticketmaster.com and are selling out quickly!

"Every year, KISS 108's Jingle Ball 2013 gives back to the community to celebrate the holiday season. This year's official charity for KISS 108's Jingle Ball 2013 is the Ryan Seacrest Foundation - $1.00 of each ticket sold will be donated to the non-profit organization, which is dedicated to inspiring today's youth through entertainment and education focused initiatives."

South Boston Open Studios

Twice a year artists, artisans and visitors celebrate the South Boston Open Studios. Onsouth boston Saturday, November 2nd and Sunday, November 3rd, visitors can walk around The Distillery and admire the work of artists in the area. 

"Visitors can mingle with creative types, tour the unique environments in which art is produced, and make purchases directly from the artists. In addition to art studios, visitors can get a peek into live/work lofts, creative small businesses, and corridors which often serve as gallery space."

The Distillery has two galleries, dozens of artists' studios and live/work loft areas. There are different types of studios, including photography, oil paintings and jewelery.

Boston Comic Con

Boston Comic ConBoston Comic Con is coming to the Seaport World Trade Center on August 3rd & 4th! Hours are Saturday from 10am to 7pm and Sunday from 10am-6pm.

The Boston Comic Con will include a consume contest, film festival and and art auction. There will also be various celebrity & artist guest appearances and a gaming center!

The BCC film festival will feature movies, shorts, and music videos from local and national independent filmmakers. On Sunday, the BCC will feature zombie movies! 

The guest appearances this year will include Laurie Holden of "The Walking Dead", Kristen Bauer  of "True Blood" and voice actor Billy West, best known  for his career with Doug, Ren & Stimpy and Futurama, will all be there! 

There are about seven games guests have an option of playing. Pricing ranges from $5-$25. Please check the Boston Comic Con website for dates and times.

Tickets vary in price from $20-100 and can be purchased here though Eventbrite. Have fun, feel free to dress up and enjoy the event!

Cultural Survival Bazaar

Cultural Survival BazaarThe Cultural Survival Bazaar will be heading to Copley Square on June 15th from 10am-6pm. 


The Cultural Survival Bazaars are a series of cultural festivals that allow artists and their representatives to showcase artwork such as clothing and jewelery from around the world. The Bazaar also offers entertainment including life music, storytelling and films for the public to enjoy. The purpose of this event, and the Cultural Survival team, is to helps bring awareness and understanding of remote cultures around the world in hope to strengthen their communities and human rights within them. 


The mission of the the Cultural Survival Bazaar Program  is to "strengthen Indigenous cultures by providing a venue for the sale of art and crafts made by Indigenous artisans throughout the world. The sale of crafts perpetuates the artistic traditions which are culturally significant to many Indigenous communities, provides capital to Indigenous communities, and provides sustainable income to individual artisans and their families.  
 
Since 2006, the Cultural Survival Bazaars have generated over 3 million dollars for Indigenous artisans, performers, fair trade, and other projects benefiting Native communities worldwide. 
For 40 years Cultural Survival has partnered with Indigenous communities around the world to defend their lands, languages, and cultures."

greenwayThe Greenway Open Market, sister to the SoWa Open Market, is a wonderful arts market that features talented area artists, crafters and independent designers. It is held on Saturdays from May 25 to October 26 along the Rose Kennedy Greenway in downtown Boston.

Visitors will find items such as locally made fine art, jewelry, apparel and eco friendly handmade items. There will also be food trucks with munchies such as hot dogs, burgers and ice cream! 

 

The Rose Kennedy Greenway is a wonderful place to bring family and friends. The Rose Kennedy Greenway is nestled between the North End and Fanuiel Hall by the Longwarf. Spend a day and check out this market and the local tourist attractions in the area.
