Boston, MA—Aerial dance company Bow & Sparrow announces it’s premiere Boston performance with Helos, an exhilarating blend of dance, circus and aerial arts. The performance will be a showcase of local circus artists and California-based company members and will feature gravity defying acrobatics, live music by Boston-based Wobblesauce, hand balancing, hooping, one of a kind aerial apparatus, and the rarely seen Cyr Wheel. This special one-day engagement will take place Friday, March 9, 8pm at the Arts at the Armory in Somerville.

Where: Arts at the Armory | 191 Highland Avenue, Somerville
When:  Friday, March 9, doors at 7:30pm, show at 8pm
Price: $25 (advance), $35 (door), general admission. Available through Brown Paper Tickets. For more information please visit www.bowandsparrow.org for info.

Helos also marks the company’s first production since it became bi-coastal with both Directors moving from their previous home base in San Francisco. Kate Law Hoflich recently moved to the Boston area (Needham), while Alayna Stroud made the move to LA to become a cast member of Cirque du Soleil’s Iris. This show will be a powerful blend of New England and California’s best circus artists and musicians.

The evening length show is filled with colorful and surreal costumes that conjure images of flight and birds. The movement hovers and floats, sometimes 25 feet off the stage, sometimes only inches above it, sometimes firmly planted yet still defying gravity. There will be live music before, during, and after the performance, beer, wine, and a lively, informal, party-like atmosphere will reign.

Featured performers include artistic directors Kate Law Hoflich and Alayna Stroud, along with T Lawrence-Simon, Gina De of Aerialicious Entertainment, Teresa Kochis of Overhead Arts, Ellen & Roger May of Off the Ground Circus, Morgan Oldham, Joanne Virginio, and Little L of Boston Hoop Troupe.
