#701 Upclose and Personal with Mars

Posted by Tara Peterson on Tue, Feb 28, 2012

alienOkay, so maybe this picture isn't really that appropriate for this event, but seriously, when I think of Mars, I think of Mars Attacks. Who wouldn't?

Anyways...

Get up close and personal with the surface of Mars! Astronomy professor Wes Watters has been a member of the Mars Exploration Rover (MER) science team for eight years. His research focuses on impacts: the most violent events in the solar system. Join him as he tours some of Mars's largest surface features and explores the discoveries of Mars rovers past and present.

Beyond the Telescope features guest astronomers who introduce their current research through the Planetarium's state-of-the-art digital projection system and extensive astronomical databases. And if this doesn't catch your fancy, check out the rest of thier site and see what else there is to do!
